The most accessible beach in Muscat — 15 minutes from the city centre. A long stretch of sand with a public park behind it. Popular with Omani families, particularly on Thursday and Friday evenings.
Swimming is safe year-round. The water is warm and sheltered. Not the clearest for snorkeling but perfectly good for a swim. Lifeguards are present during peak hours.
Best time: Evening visits October to April. Sunrise swimming is particularly peaceful.

30 minutes southeast of Muscat on a winding coastal road. Dramatically different from Qurum — rocky headlands, turquoise water, and far fewer visitors.
The drive itself is part of the experience. The road climbs over a headland and drops to a hidden bay that most visitors in Muscat never find. Water clarity is significantly better than Qurum.
Best time: Morning visits to avoid afternoon heat.

45 minutes from Muscat, located near the Shangri-La and Barr Al Jissah resort complex. The beach itself is accessible to non-guests. Clear turquoise water in a sheltered bay surrounded by rocky hills.

The beach sits at the bottom of a steep winding descent. The water is a shade of blue that photographs cannot accurately capture — clear to the bottom in calm conditions. Turtles, reef fish, and occasional rays are visible snorkeling close to the shoreline.

The Daymaniyat Islands are nine uninhabited islands approximately 18 kilometres offshore from the Batinah coast. They are protected as a nature reserve and contain some of the healthiest coral reef systems in the Arabian Sea.
Marine life includes hawksbill turtles, reef sharks, barracuda, and dense schools of reef fish. Visibility on calm days exceeds 15 metres. The islands are considered the best snorkeling and diving destination in Oman.
Access requires a boat charter from marinas near Muscat or Barka. Day trips run approximately 5–6 hours including boat travel time. Snorkeling equipment is usually provided.
Best time: May to October — calmer seas and best visibility.

Mughsail is 40 kilometres west of Salalah in the Dhofar region — a full day's drive or a 1-hour flight from Muscat. It is dramatically different from Muscat's beaches: a sweeping arc of white sand backed by limestone cliffs, with natural blowholes that shoot water 10–15 metres into the air when the swell is right.
Swimming at Mughsail is best outside the Khareef monsoon season (July–September), when large waves make the water rough. October to May offers calmer conditions and the famous blowhole activity.
